If you are reading this, you are probably an entrepreneur, an investor, or a friend. We are all together on this warming planet.
When I wrote my first Earth Day article three decades ago there was much less public concern about the environment and there were also fewer solutions. Since then, the problem has become much bigger and more people are concerned.
They say that it’s hard to improve your GPA in your senior year. It’s even harder change if you are born with a low GPA. Nonetheless, babies don’t give up. Nor should we. With an exponential increase in participation from everyone, more clever solutions and a little luck, maybe we can turn the numbers around.
It was a journey for Buckhill to find our role in the solution. We think that we can have the biggest impact by funding companies that make more with less to reduce the carbon footprint of supply chains. We are particularly excited about the apparel industry because it is committed to making sustainable business models and has spawned many attractive investment opportunities for us.
Buckhill is currently invested in companies that address carbon emissions, one of the biggest threats facing the planet. The following companies have found ways to increase productivity while reducing the carbon footprint of the supply chain.
- The Renewal Workshop provides textile renewal for brands to sell discarded inventory which converts waste to revenues with a lower carbon footprint
- Kenzie Academy helps students bridge the education gap into productive technology jobs and empower local economies in the American Heartland
- SpaceX produces, launches and recycles rockets with a lower carbon footprint than competitors and seeks to connect rural and developing countries with internet communications
Buckhill invests in companies at the inflection point of exponential growth from a strong base of revenues. We provide growth capital to companies with a visible path to generate significant environmental, social and economic outcomes.
We broadly seek to partner and finance entrepreneurs on a mission involving carbon mining, recommerce, sustainable supply chain and the circular economy. If you think that we might fit with your needs for capital, feel free to contact us.
Earth Day is a good reminder of the challenges that we face and that we all can do something. We look forward to seeing you on the road.
